Tabaccherias

We had no idea what a wonder of convenience these little holes in the wall would be! You can probably guess from the name that these shops primarily sell tobacco. But we also learned that the tabaccherias were the best place to buy bus tickets. And phone cards. And stamps. And an assortment of other very handy items.

While small, these stores came closest to selling a broad mixture of goods like American stores tend to do. The eighth thing I will miss about Italy--the surprisingly handy tabaccherias.
